By God’s grace, Zion Lutheran Church has been serving the Lord’s people of Chesaning since 1873. We believe that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, and in scripture alone. God has purified us from all sins by sending his son Jesus to live a perfect life for us, die on the cross for us, and rise from the dead for us. At Zion Lutheran Church, we teach the full truth of the Bible – that Jesus has saved us from all sins and calls us to serve and preach his name.

Worship 8:00 and 10:30 am on Sunday Morning
Sunday School and Bible Class: 9:15 am on Sunday Morning
June - August
Worship: 9:00 am on Sunday Morning and 7:00 pm on Monday Evening
Meet Pastor Tessmer
Pastor Paul Tessmer has served as Zion’s pastor since January 2020. Pastor Tessmer was born in Yakima, Washington and grew up in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. He is a 1991 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary and has previously served as a pastor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Omaha, Nebraska, and Zion Lutheran Church, Winthrop, Minnesota. Pastor Tessmer’s wife, Deb, teaches preschool at St. Charles Public School. They have 3 adult children. In his spare time Pastor enjoys reading, music, and enjoying the beauty of the Michigan outdoors, especially traveling to see lighthouses. He is eager to share the good news of Jesus with you and to help in whatever way he can in our walk with our Savior.
